Arunachal: Itanagar Police Arrest Eight In Crackdown On Illegal Gambling

Itanagar, Feb 20: The Itanagar Capital Police have arrested eight individuals in a series of raids targeting illegal gambling operations across the city. The action was taken in response to multiple public complaints about gambling activities at Nyokum grounds and other locations.

A police team led by Inspector Khiksi Yangfo (OC Itanagar PS) and Inspector Takhe Tasso (2nd OC Itanagar), along with SI Inya Tato, ASI M. Kamgo, CT Nabam Chakum, CT Tayo Bodo, and Santosh Garam, conducted the raids under the supervision of SP Rohit Rajbir Singh (IPS) and SDPO Kengo Dirchi.

The first raid was carried out on February 18 at 11:00 PM at Nyokum Lapang, where two individuals were arrested, and gambling materials were seized. On February 19, at 5:00 PM, four more suspects were caught red-handed near Daily Market, Ganga. Later, at 6:30 PM, two others were arrested at Nyokum Ground, Jollang, for organizing dice gambling.

Three cases have been registered at Itanagar Police Station under the Arunachal Pradesh Gambling Prohibition Act, vide case numbers 22/25, 23/25, and 24/25. The police have assured continued efforts to curb illegal activities and maintain public order.
