Agartala, February 25, 2025: Agitating job seekers marched towards the Tripura’s Chief Minister’s residence in Agartala city on Tuesday demanding the immediate recruitment of fire workers and drivers. However, police intercepted them mid-route, preventing their approach. Undeterred, the protesters regrouped in front of Ujjayanta Palace also known as Tripura State Museum, where they voiced their demands insisting that the recruitment process be expedited.

“We have been waiting for nearly two years, but the department has not released the results. How long do we have to suffer in uncertainty?” questioned one of the protesters.

The demonstrators claimed that in 2022, a notice was issued for the recruitment of 329 posts in the Tripura Fire Service. Physical and written tests were conducted shortly thereafter, but the results have yet to be declared. “We are being forced to protest because there has been no recruitment for two years,” another job seeker alleged.

They also warned of intensifying their agitation if their demands are not met. “If the government does not respond, we will launch a larger movement,” a protester declared.

Appealing to Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha, the protesters urged him to intervene and resolve the issue at the earliest. “We request the Chief Minister to take this matter seriously. Our future is at stake,” one of them pleaded.
