Domestic LPG prices increased by ₹60 per 14.2-kg cylinder nationwide from March 7, 2026. In Delhi, the price rose from ₹853 to ₹913, while Mumbai saw rates move from ₹852.50 to ₹912.50, Kolkata from ₹879 to ₹939, and Chennai from ₹868.50 to ₹928.50.

Commercial 19-kg cylinders recorded a higher increase of ₹115. In Delhi, prices rose from ₹1,768.50 to ₹1,883; Mumbai from ₹1,720.50 to ₹1,835; Kolkata from ₹1,875.50 to ₹1,990; and Chennai from ₹1,929 to ₹2,043.50. This is the first price revision since April 2025.

The hike coincides with global energy uncertainties linked to the Iran conflict and potential disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. Government sources stated that India maintains a “very comfortable position” with sufficient crude oil, petroleum, and LPG stocks.

Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri reassured consumers on X, stating that India faces no energy shortage and emphasized that fuel supply remains affordable and sustainable.

Indian Oil Corporation also addressed social media reports of petrol and diesel shortages, confirming that stocks and supply chains are normal and advising consumers to rely on official sources.

To ensure uninterrupted supply, LPG refineries have been instructed to increase production. India has diversified its imports, including a 2.2 MTPA LPG contract from the US signed in November 2025, and Russian crude, which accounted for 20% of total imports (1.04 million barrels per day) in February 2026, up from 0.2% in 2022.
