Agartala, March 31, 2026: A 100-day integrated health campaign focusing on malnutrition, tuberculosis and adolescent health was launched in Agartala to strengthen public healthcare delivery in vulnerable areas of the state.

The campaign, formally launched on March 30 at the Civil Secretariat, is being implemented under the chairmanship of Health and Family Welfare Secretary Kiran Gitte through a joint initiative of National Health Mission, NEEPCO and Tripura Santiniketan Medical College.

Officials said the campaign aims to rapidly identify and address malnutrition, adolescent health concerns and gaps in tuberculosis detection in selected areas while improving accessibility and effectiveness of health services.

Under the programme, 35 health camps will be organised in Kathalia and Mohanbhog blocks of Sepahijala district and nine camps in Ganganagar block of Dhalai district.

Field-level activities include village-based health camps, screening for malnutrition and tuberculosis, adolescent counselling, awareness programmes, referral support and behavioural change campaigns.

District medical teams led by the respective Chief Medical Officers will supervise implementation, while monitoring will be carried out through block-level reviews and state-level evaluation meetings.

As part of the campaign, children’s height and weight will be measured to identify malnutrition, with growth charts used for health monitoring. Hemoglobin tests will also be conducted to detect anaemia.

Officials said special emphasis has been placed on tuberculosis detection through symptom-based screening and sputum testing wherever required.

The initiative will also provide nutrition awareness, adolescent counselling, early pregnancy detection and referrals to specialised clinics when necessary.

An average of 200 beneficiaries is expected to be covered in each camp, with a target of reaching around 6,400 people during the 100-day campaign.

The camps will primarily serve infants aged up to six months, children between six and 59 months, pregnant women, lactating mothers and adolescent girls aged 15 to 19 years.

Doctors, health workers, medicines, referral support and on-site training for ASHA workers have also been arranged to ensure effective service delivery. Representatives of NEEPCO and Tripura Santiniketan Medical College attended the launch programme.
