Agartala, November 11, 2025: Medical services at Tripura’s Gomati District Hospital are showing remarkable progress, with 12 successful surgeries conducted in a single day on Monday. a milestone reflecting the hospital’s growing efficiency and capacity.
Among the procedures was a critical breast cancer surgery performed on a woman from Amarpur. Hospital surgeon Dr. Biswajit Pal, who led the surgical team, said that apart from the cancer operation, five major and six minor surgeries were also successfully completed. Dr. Pal was assisted by Dr. Amaresh Bhowmik and Dr. Moutushi Chowdhury. All surgeries were conducted free of cost under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana.
In the past week alone, the hospital carried out 52 surgeries, and the monthly tally has crossed 200 procedures across departments such as Gynecology, General Surgery, ENT, Ophthalmology, and Orthopedics.
Hospital’s Medical Superintendent Dr. Kajal Kumar Das said that continuous efforts are being made to enhance healthcare delivery, with a focus on infrastructure and cleanliness. “We are working towards bringing the hospital under the National Quality Assurance framework,” he noted.
The Women and Children’s Department has already been shifted to a newly constructed building, and expansion of ward spaces is underway. With these initiatives, Gomati District Hospital is fast emerging as a hub of accessible and improved healthcare for the people of the region.
