Agartala, June 03, 2025: In a significant late-night operation, Tripura Police detained 13 Bangladeshi nationals from a rented house in the Hapania area of Agartala city on late Tuesday night. The group reportedly includes members of the Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS), a political group active in the Chittagong Hill Tracts region of Bangladesh.

According to officials, the detainees include 11 men and 2 women, all of whom had allegedly entered Indian territory six days back under the pretext of seeking medical treatment.

“We detained them from a rented residence late last night. They have identified themselves as members of the PCJSS and claimed they crossed the border for medical reasons,” a senior intelligence official told Northeast Today.

Preliminary reports indicate that six of the individuals were suffering from injuries, including burn and cut wounds, particularly on their legs. Authorities believe this could be the primary reason for their entry into Tripura.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Thuithui Mog (23), Angla Mog (35), Rumel Chakma (27), Aoj Chakma (30), Dravid Chakma (24), Ramen Chakma (24), Mik Chakma (28), Nirbhoy Chakma (27), Choice Chakma (21), Bitu Chakma (17), Kimon Chakma (22), Purna Chakma (24), and Nayanchi Mog (21).

Security agencies are currently verifying their claims and investigating possible links to any insurgent activity. Further interrogation and legal procedures are underway.
