Security forces have recovered a total of 155 weapons, along with 1,652 rounds of ammunition, explosives, and other war-like stores during multiple operations conducted in the hill districts of Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, Pherzawl, Tengnoupal, and Chandel over the past few days, police said.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, joint teams comprising the Manipur Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), Assam Rifles, and the Indian Army launched coordinated search operations across the districts. The raids led to the seizure of eight AK-series rifles, two INSAS rifles, four carbines, one Self-Loading Rifle (SLR), eight 9mm pistols, fourteen 12-bore guns, twenty-one single-bore guns, fourteen country-made pistols, and several other firearms.
Additionally, 31 locally made mortars (pompi), 39 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), 13 hand grenades, 1,600 assorted rounds of ammunition, 15 communication sets, and four binoculars were recovered.
A senior police official termed the recovery a significant achievement, stating that the intelligence-led operations reflect the ongoing efforts of the security forces to restore peace, uphold public order, and safeguard the lives and properties of citizens in the violence-hit districts.
Reaffirming their commitment to a peaceful and secure Manipur, the police have urged the public to extend full cooperation and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or central control room.
