Security forces destroyed approximately 22 acres of illegal poppy cultivation along with three farm huts at Sehjang/Khoiripok under New Keithelmanbi Police Station in Kangpokpi district on Tuesday, officials said.

The operation was carried out as part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal poppy plantations and related activities in vulnerable hill areas.

Authorities stated that such drives will continue to prevent the resurgence of illicit cultivation in the region.

Security forces have also been conducting sustained search operations and area domination exercises in fringe and sensitive areas across various districts of Manipur, leading to the recovery of arms and ammunition in recent days.

As part of heightened security measures, a total of 103 nakas and checkpoints were set up across different districts in both hill and valley areas. However, no detentions were reported during these checks.

Meanwhile, authorities ensured the safe movement of 176 vehicles carrying essential commodities along National Highway-37. Strict security arrangements have been put in place at vulnerable points, and convoy protection has been provided in sensitive stretches to guarantee the free and secure passage of goods amid the prevailing security situation.
