Agartala, May 29, 2026: Under the MGNREGA scheme, West Tripura district generated 28.63 lakh man-days of employment during the 2025–26 fiscal year against a target of 37.66 lakh man-days across nine block areas.
According to the MGNREGA Department, 238 development projects were undertaken using the generated workforce. These included 30 box culverts, 63 brick-soled roads, 103 CC roads, one embankment, seven compound walls, one cremation ghat, three CSCs, renovation of nine Anganwadi centres, two rural markets, four SHG Federation buildings, and several drainage and sanitation-related works.
Additionally, under the Chief Minister’s Rubber Mission, rubber plantations were developed over 917.10 hectares of land in the district.
Officials stated that the scheme has continued to support rural employment generation while also strengthening infrastructure development in various parts of West Tripura.
