Agartala, February 25, 2026: A seven-day Capacity Building Programme for the states of Tripura and Assam was formally launched at the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati, marking a significant step towards strengthening grassroots entrepreneurship and skill development in the Northeast.
The inaugural programme was jointly launched by Swati Sharma, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development, and Hena Usman, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. The programme is being held at IIE’s Guwahati campus for participants from Tripura and Assam.
Senior officials of the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) joined the inaugural session through video conferencing, including CEO Tarit Kanti Chakma, IAS, Deputy CEO Titu Debbarma, CFO, State Mission Managers (SMMs) and other officials.
Under the initiative, TRLM has deputed 20 women Self Help Group members popularly known as “didis” to undergo intensive training at IIE, Guwahati. These participants will be developed as Master Trainers, who will subsequently impart training to other didis across various districts, thereby creating a multiplier effect in skill dissemination and entrepreneurship promotion at the grassroots level.
The Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship, an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, focuses on training, research and consultancy services for small and micro enterprises, with special emphasis on entrepreneurship development. The capacity building programme aims to equip women participants with advanced skills, knowledge and training methodologies to strengthen livelihood initiatives and promote sustainable self-employment in the region.
