70 Acres Of Illegal Poppy Cultivation Destroyed In Manipur’s Ukhrul District

Imphal, Dec 17: Authorities have destroyed 70 acres of illegal poppy cultivation in Manipur’s Ukhrul district. The operation, carried out on Monday, targeted poppy fields in the villages of Phalee, Tora, and Champhung under the Lungchong Maiphei Police Station area.

A joint team consisting of Manipur Police, Assam Rifles, and the Forest Department was involved in the crackdown. During the operation, 13 huts found on the poppy fields were also set on fire. An investigation has been launched to identify the individuals responsible for the illegal plantation as part of the state’s ongoing efforts to combat narcotic cultivation.
