Shillong, Nov 28: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has called for greater focus on the localization of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and enhanced collaboration between government departments for the state’s development. Speaking at the Indo-German Cooperation on SDG Localization program in Shillong, CM Sangma highlighted the importance of integrating SDGs into local governance.
The event, which brought together officials from NITI Aayog, GIZ, Deputy Commissioners, and state government representatives, aimed to promote the effective implementation of SDGs in Meghalaya. In his address, the Chief Minister emphasized that all government officials must understand their roles in achieving these global goals and stressed the need for a coordinated, cross-sectoral approach for sustainable development.
CM Sangma also praised the state government’s focus on improving connectivity, fostering convergence, and encouraging teamwork, which he noted has contributed to the state’s growth. He further acknowledged the positive impact of recent governance reforms, which have empowered the state’s administrative machinery to surpass expectations in meeting SDG targets.
In closing, CM Sangma urged officials to reassess their goals and work collaboratively to create a unified vision for the sustainable future of Meghalaya.
