Agartala, July 22, 2025: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has sanctioned a loan of ₹975.26 crore to strengthen infrastructure across nine industrial zones in Tripura, a senior official said.
Tripura Industrial Development Corporation (TIDC) Chairman Nabadal Banik confirmed that the funds will be used to build industrial sheds, power substations, underground electric lines, fire service stations, and 34 roads across key industrial zones including Bodhjungnagar, R K Nagar, Dukli, and AN Nagar.
“The implementation of the project is already underway to develop world-class infrastructure in the state’s industrial belts,” Banik stated.
The state government has also allocated land for two new industrial hubs—127 acres at Santirbazar in South Tripura and 28 acres at Fatikroy in Unakoti district. Demarcation work in both areas has begun, Banik added, emphasizing that efforts are being made to prevent land from lying unused.
In a move to make better use of idle assets, the TIDC has reclaimed 28 acres from 24 inactive industrial units. The reclaimed land will be repurposed to accommodate emerging entrepreneurs looking to invest in the state.
Banik also highlighted a new initiative to boost Tripura’s plywood industry. “Currently, two plywood units are functional, and seven more are in the pipeline,” he said. With around 10,000 hectares of senile rubber plantations available for use, the state is focusing on rubber wood-based plywood production.
“If implemented successfully, Tripura could emerge as a leading state in plywood manufacturing,” he added.
