Agartala, April 07, 2026: Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Monday asserted that the ADC areas in Tripura are increasingly “BJP-oriented,” reflecting what he described as the growing trust of people in the ruling party.

Addressing an election meeting at Chakmapara under booth number 20 of the Bodhjangnagar–Wakinagar constituency, Nath said that opposition parties, if voted to power, would continue to raise “false allegations of deprivation,” which he claimed harms tribal communities. He urged voters to support the “double engine government” to ensure overall development of tribals.

The minister maintained that regional political parties fail to sustain themselves as they do not focus on development. “The BJP is the only party committed to the real development and progress of tribals,” he said, adding that people across communities support the party for its “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” approach.

Highlighting the party’s growth, Nath said the BJP, formed 46 years ago, has emerged as the world’s largest political party with around 140 million members. He contrasted it with the Congress, which he said was founded 141 years ago, and also cited the membership of the Communist Party of China.

He further pointed out that the BJP has a strong presence in Parliament, with 240 MPs in the Lok Sabha and 106 in the Rajya Sabha, while the NDA has 293 MPs in the Lok Sabha and 141 in the Rajya Sabha. He added that BJP and its allies are in power in 20 states, with the party directly ruling in several states including Tripura.

Citing development works in the Wakinagar area, Nath said that in the past 7.5 years, 418 government houses were provided to 763 families, 453 families received free rice, and 362 people benefited from social pensions, which have also been increased. He added that 413 families received piped drinking water and 96 beneficiaries became “millionaires” through various schemes.

The minister also said that tribal communities are gradually moving away from regional parties, which, according to him, have failed to deliver long-term development. He claimed that the BJP has accorded due respect to tribal communities, noting that a majority of recent Padma Shri awardees from the state belong to tribal groups.

Referring to Narendra Modi, Nath said several initiatives for tribal welfare have been undertaken under his leadership. He also highlighted steps such as naming the airport after Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Debbarma and declaring a holiday on his birth anniversary.

Criticising previous governments led by the Congress and the CPI(M), Nath alleged that tribal populations were deprived of basic facilities earlier. He also listed several regional outfits, including Tipra Motha, and said such parties have failed to remain relevant due to lack of development focus.

Reiterating the party’s commitment, he said the BJP government has implemented schemes providing free food grains, housing, and infrastructure, and will continue to work for the welfare of all sections of society.
