Agartala, November 18, 2025: Tripura’s achievements in organic farming received international attention as Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath presented the state’s success story at the Middle East Natural and Organic Products Expo (MENOPE) 2025, held from November 17–19 at the Dubai World Trade Center.

Participating for the first time at this global forum, Tripura highlighted its growing strength in organic cultivation, attracting interest from importers and retailers across the Middle East, Europe, Japan, Korea and Southeast Asia. Buyers expressed keen interest in sourcing the state’s organic products and exploring long-term partnerships.

Tripura’s GI-certified Queen Pineapple, Jackfruit, Kalikhasa and Harinarayan rice, Bird’s Eye Chilli, Gandharaj Lemon, White Sesame and Foxtail Millet drew significant appreciation for their quality, flavour and export potential.

Addressing the international gathering, Minister Nath said Tripura has emerged as one of India’s leading organic farming states under the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The state currently has 26,400 hectares under certified organic cultivation, with more than 26,800 farmers shifting from conventional to sustainable agriculture.

Nath highlighted the establishment of 53 organic Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs) that are helping connect farmers to global markets through processing, branding and direct marketing. He also promoted the state’s renowned Queen Pineapple, known for its natural sweetness of 16–20 Brix, along with the RQ variety suited for processing industries.

The Minister further showcased Tripura’s fragrant Kalikhasa rice, black rice, sticky rice, Gandharaj lemon, ginger, turmeric and sesame, noting their rising global demand due to nutritional and health benefits. He also pitched Tripura’s agarwood, agar oil, perfume and bamboo-based products as high-value natural resources with significant export potential.

Inviting global investors and importers to collaborate with the state, Nath urged them to participate in the Organic Buyer-Seller Meet scheduled in Tripura in January 2026.

He was accompanied by Rajiv Dev Verma, Mission Director of the Tripura Organic Mission.
