Ajay Kumar Bhalla, former Union Home Secretary, has been appointed as the new Governor of Manipur, a state grappling with ethnic tensions between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities. The announcement was made by the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday.
In addition, Vijay Kumar Singh, former army chief, has been appointed Governor of Mizoram. Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan has been reassigned to Bihar ahead of its upcoming assembly elections. Vishwanath Arlekar has been named as the new Governor of Kerala.
