Agartala, October 17, 2025: Aloke Kumar Chakraborty on Friday formally assumed charge as the Inspector General (IG) of the Border Security Force (BSF), Tripura Frontier, succeeding A.K. Sharma, who has been transferred to Manipur.
A highly decorated officer, Chakraborty brings with him a wealth of experience spanning operational, administrative, and instructional domains. He is a recipient of the Police Medal for Meritorious Service, the UNMIK Medal, and the Ati Utkrisht Sewa Padak for his distinguished contributions to national security.
Throughout his illustrious career, he has served along the Indo-Bangladesh and Indo-Pakistan borders, the Line of Control (LC), and in Anti-Naxal operations, demonstrating leadership in diverse and challenging terrains. He has also held instructional roles at premier BSF training institutions, including the BSF Academy, Gwalior, and the Central School of Weapons and Tactics, Indore.
In addition, Chakraborty has served on deputation to the Special Protection Group (SPG) and represented India in the United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK), further enriching his professional profile.
His appointment as IG, Tripura Frontier, is expected to further strengthen border management and enhance operational efficiency across the sensitive Indo-Bangladesh frontier.
