Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand on Wednesday met Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the Parliament House Complex in New Delhi, where the prevailing law and order situation in Manipur was reviewed.
During the meeting, Amit Shah emphasised the need to accelerate the ongoing peace process in the state while strengthening harmony and mutual trust among different communities.
The Chief Minister said the Union Home Minister has given in-principle approval for the raising of a Mahila India Reserve Battalion (IRB) in Manipur. The proposed battalion is aimed at enhancing the state’s capacity to maintain law and order and strengthen internal security.
Khemchand added that a detailed proposal for the formation of the Mahila IRB Battalion will be submitted to the Centre at the earliest.
He also expressed gratitude to the Home Minister for the support extended to the state and reiterated the government’s commitment to restoring lasting peace, stability and inclusive development in Manipur.
