Agartala, July 30, 2025: North Tripura police have made another breakthrough in the armed robbery case at Ichai Lalcherra village by arresting a third suspect, further tightening the noose around the criminal gang involved.

The robbery took place under Kadamtala Police Station, saw a group of 4–5 armed men impersonating security personnel and storming the residence of one Subrata Kumar. The assailants tied up two family members, physically assaulted them, and looted cash, gold ornaments and mobile phones.

Following the incident, police registered a case under IPC Sections 331(4) and 309(4). Two individuals—Kompu Shukla Das (28) and Jamir Ali (47) were earlier taken into custody. Based on their interrogation, police arrest Selim Uddin (35) from Khadimpur, East Fulbari.

A search of Uddin’s house led to the recovery of Rs 12,100 in cash, an Android smartphone, three keypad mobile phones, sharp-edged weapons, and a BSF jawan’s uniform allegedly used in the crime. Additionally, police recovered a stolen music system reported missing from Kurti Madrasa.

Initial investigations suggest the gang deliberately used BSF uniforms to pose as law enforcement personnel and avoid arousing suspicion during the heist. Authorities believe the group may have connections to criminal elements operating both within and outside the state.

Police have taken the accused into remand, and interrogation is ongoing to uncover the broader network involved in the incident.
