Arambai Tenggol (AT) has extended full support to the Manipur government’s recent directive aimed at curbing illegal immigration by intensifying surveillance across all state borders.
The directive, issued on July 23 by Commissioner (Home) N. Ashok Kumar, instructs all Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police to set up robust mechanisms to monitor and prevent unauthorized crossings at international, inter-state, and inter-district boundaries.
In a statement, Arambai Tenggol announced its willingness to assist the state administration, offering the strength of nearly 70,000 youth members to support enforcement efforts. “We fully support the state government’s memorandum to prevent the entry of illegal immigrants. Our available resources will be at the government’s disposal, if needed,” the group stated.
AT expressed readiness to collaborate with authorities by sharing local intelligence and mobilising manpower to detect and deport illegal migrants. “Our aim is to contribute meaningfully to ensuring law and order while protecting the rights and security of bonafide citizens,” the statement added.
The group voiced concern over the growing influx of illegal immigrants, warning that the unchecked movement is threatening indigenous communities by encroaching upon ancestral lands and diluting cultural identity. AT called the issue a serious threat to the region’s socio-economic stability and national security.
Expressing trust in both the central and state governments, AT welcomed the memorandum as a step toward a sustained and comprehensive solution. “Such decisive actions are indispensable for enhancing national prosperity and securing the future of coming generations,” it said.
Meanwhile, the Manipur Police announced the formation of Special Task Forces across all districts to identify and take legal action against illegal immigrants. Authorities have been instructed to collect biometric data of identified individuals and hold them in secured facilities pending deportation.
