Manipur Police recovered a cache of arms and ammunition during a search operation in Churachandpur district, a senior officer said on Saturday. The recovery was made on Friday from the Khuga Dam area.

Items seized included one locally made rifle, three pistol magazines, a bomb, one grenade, two hand-held wireless sets, and four improvised explosive devices, along with other materials.

Police said security forces continue to carry out search operations and area domination in fringe and vulnerable areas across various districts. Such operations have been ongoing since ethnic violence erupted in the state two years ago.

The Centre imposed President’s Rule in Manipur on February 13 following the resignation of Chief Minister N Biren Singh. The state assembly, which has a tenure until 2027, has been placed under suspended animation.
