Agartala, January 05, 2025: Tripura Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath has emphasized the transformative power of art in shaping young minds, asserting that creativity is as essential as academic excellence in a student’s development. Speaking at the inauguration of an Art Society programme organized by the Mohanpur Municipal Council, the minister urged students to actively engage in artistic pursuits alongside their studies.
“Art nurtures mental growth, teaches patience, enhances concentration, and awakens a sense of beauty,” Nath said, highlighting the multifaceted benefits of artistic engagement. “It is not enough to score good marks in exams. To succeed in life, one must be sensitive, creative, and humane.”
He stressed that the state government is placing special emphasis on the holistic development of education, art, and culture. “New ideas and innovation pave the way for the future. That’s why I call upon students to make art and culture an integral part of their lives,” he added.
Nath underscored the importance of extracurricular activities in building self-reliance, noting that many artists in India and around the world have carved out respectable careers through their creative talents. “Education is important, but so are activities beyond the curriculum,” he said.
Encouraging students to dream beyond conventional academic paths, the minister said, “One may aspire to be a dancer, an athlete, or a painter. A picture can be as powerful as a thousand words. Art is not just about colors and brushes—it is the language of the mind, the expression of emotion, and the embodiment of imagination.”
He elaborated on how children express their joys, sorrows, dreams, and feelings through painting—often communicating what words cannot. “In today’s fast-paced, technology-driven world, the importance of art has only grown,” he noted. “Art cultivates emotional intelligence and creative thinking, which are crucial for success in any profession.”
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, Nath stated, “We want our students not only to excel academically but also to grow into compassionate, creative, and empathetic individuals.”
In a heartfelt message to students, he concluded, “Make art a part of your life. Paint your dreams in vibrant colors. It is through your hands that a beautiful, peaceful, and creative society will emerge. Today’s artists can achieve self-reliance by showcasing their work in galleries, exhibitions, online platforms, and social media.”
