Namsai, April 3: Namsai Police have arrested two individuals and recovered a total of 57 grams of suspected heroin in two separate operations conducted within a span of 12 days in Arunachal Pradesh’s Namsai district.
According to police, the operations were carried out under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Sangey Thinley.

In the first case on March 20, 2026, acting on specific information, a police team conducted a raid at an abandoned rented premises near a petroleum pump, around 1 km from 2nd Mile in Namsai. During the operation, one accused, identified as Sujita Kungkung, was apprehended. A search led to the recovery of approximately 15 grams of suspected heroin concealed in a soap case.
In a subsequent operation on April 2, 2026, police intercepted a vehicle (Suzuki Ignis, registration number AR-20A-5547) along the Solungtoo Highway based on further inputs. The occupant, identified as Chow Pingta Choutang, was apprehended. During the search, approximately 41 grams of suspected heroin concealed in soap cases were recovered from the centre console of the vehicle.
Police stated that all seizures were conducted following due legal procedures in the presence of independent witnesses and documented through e-Sakshya. Cases have been registered under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The operations were carried out by the Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Kengo Dirchi, along with other officers and staff, with support from local police personnel.
Further investigation is underway to trace links in the suspected drug network, police added.
