Itanagar, Dec 19: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has accused activists from outside the state of misleading the public about the 12,500 MW Siang Upper Multipurpose Project. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Khandu clarified that the project is not just about constructing a dam but is a multipurpose initiative aimed at benefiting the region in various ways.
In his statement after inaugurating an integrated sports complex and other infrastructure projects at the Police Training Centre in Banderdewa, Khandu stressed, “This is more than just a dam. The Siang project is a large, multipurpose venture, and certain individuals are creating confusion among the masses.”
Khandu urged the public to look beyond the misinformation and understand the full scope of the project, which includes energy generation, flood control, and other development goals.
