A 5G-dedicated laboratory has been established at the College of Agriculture in Pasighat to promote hydroponic farming and provide practical training to students and farmers. The facility focuses on cultivating leafy vegetables without soil using modern soilless farming techniques.
Under the hydroponic system, plants are grown in water-filled plastic pipes that supply essential nutrient solutions directly to the roots. Speaking to DD News Arunachal, Premadhya said the method enables pest-free cultivation, faster plant growth and year-round production of vegetables.
He said the technique is suitable for rooftop and indoor farming and can be adopted on both small and large scales. The plants require about 8 to 10 hours of light daily and are ready for harvest within 30 to 35 days.
The laboratory aims to familiarise students and farmers with advanced farming practices and encourage sustainable agricultural methods in the region.
