Arunachal CM Calls For Blending Cultural Values With Development, Inaugurates Projects

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu stressed the need to balance development with cultural preservation during his visit to Lower Dibang Valley district. He inaugurated several infrastructure projects and participated in the Solung festival of the Adi community at Roing.

Khandu emphasized that progress should go hand in hand with tradition, urging communities to safeguard their languages, customs, and cultural roots. He praised the Adi tribe for preserving traditional practices and called on elders to teach native dialects to younger generations while adapting to modern needs.

The Chief Minister also noted the role of the Department of Indigenous Affairs in supporting tribal heritage and encouraged stronger collaboration with community-based organisations.

During the visit, Khandu launched multiple projects, including:

20-bedded hostels at CUPS Sirang, Keba, and Middle School Kangkong, and a 120-bedded hostel with staff quarters at Government Secondary School Paglam.

Infrastructure for an electrical sub-division at Dambuk.

Road improvement works in Dambuk and Paglam.

Staff quarters at CUPS campuses and a new residence for the Principal of Government Model College, Roing.

CM also inspected the Sissiri River bridge under construction on the Bomjir–Paglam road, which is expected to provide year-round connectivity for villages like Bizari, Anpum, Loklung, and Paglam, boosting economic opportunities.

Khandu expressed optimism about the region’s future, citing mega projects like the Dibang Multipurpose Hydroelectric Plant as key drivers for growth and infrastructure development in Lower Dibang Valley.
