Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu inaugurated the Gyalwa Jampa Lhakhang, a newly constructed Buddhist temple located in Buri near Lumla, close to the Indo-Bhutan border.

The temple features a 90-feet tall statue of Maitreya Buddha placed atop a 23-foot-high pedestal that houses a prayer hall, library, and ritual spaces. The structure was conceptualized by the late Jambey Tashi, former MLA of Lumla, whose efforts were dedicated to preserving the region’s cultural and spiritual traditions.

The temple was consecrated by His Holiness the 41st Sakya Trizin Gongma Trichen Rinpoche. Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Khandu said the Gyalwa Jampa Lhakhang would serve as a gateway for seekers of Buddhist teachings and a symbol of Lumla’s faith and heritage.
