Itanagar, Feb 14: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Saturday paid tribute to the 40 CRPF personnel killed in the 2019 Pulwama terror attack, calling their sacrifice the ultimate expression of love for the nation.
In a post on X, Khandu said, “Today, we bow our heads in honour of the 40 bravehearts of the @CRPFindia who made the ultimate sacrifice in Pulwama on this day in 2019. While the world marks February 14 as a day of love, we remember the greatest love of all, the love for one’s nation.”
The attack occurred on February 14, 2019, when a suicide bomber targeted a CRPF convoy at Lethpora in Jammu and Kashmir, leading to nationwide remembrance every year.
Khandu also observed the day as Major Bob Khathing Day, recalling the 1951 peaceful expedition by Major Ralengnao ‘Bob’ Khathing to Tawang, which integrated the region into India.
“February 14th isn’t just about roses; it’s Major Bob Khathing Day,” Khandu posted. “From being a decorated WWII hero to a brilliant diplomat, his bravery and tact secured our borders and won the hearts of the local Arunachali community.”
The chief minister highlighted that the nation remains indebted to such heroes who safeguarded its borders and unity.
