Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu participated in the 90th birthday celebrations of the 14th Dalai Lama at Tsuglagkhang, the main Tibetan temple in Dharamshala, where the spiritual leader resides. The Dalai Lama’s birthday is officially observed on July 6.
On July 2, the Dalai Lama stated that only the Gaden Phodrang Trust, a foundation established by him, has the sole authority to recognize his future reincarnations and that no other party has the right to interfere.
Union Minister Rijiju said on July 4 that the choice of the Dalai Lama’s successor should be left entirely to the spiritual leader. “I am a devotee of the Dalai Lama. Anyone who follows him wants his successor to be chosen by the Dalai Lama himself,” he said.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed on his official social media handle that the celebrations were a special occasion, bringing people from all walks of life together for the Long Life Offering (Tenshug) ceremony.
“With heartfelt prayers and traditional offerings, the event reflected deep gratitude, love, and hope. The atmosphere was warm and moving as people of all ages united in prayer for His Holiness’s well-being,” he said.
Khandu wished the Dalai Lama good health, a long life, and continued strength to guide and inspire humanity with his wisdom, compassion, and message of peace.
