Itanagar, Jun 21: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Saturday held a detailed discussion with officials and stakeholders to promote sustainable spiritual, cultural, and eco-tourism in the remote Mago–Chuna region of Tawang district.
The meeting included Director of Shangri-La Calling Jambey Dondu, whose efforts have been highlighting the region’s sacred trails and cultural heritage. The Chief Minister acknowledged Dondu’s role in bringing global attention to the hidden treasures of Tawang.
To take the vision of Shangri-La Calling forward, CM Khandu also met with Tawang Deputy Commissioner Namgyal Angmo, Brigadier Rahul Mishra, ZPC Tawang Leki Gombu, ADC Jang Hakreso Kri, and senior officials from the Indian Army and district administration.
The discussions focused on developing the Mago–Chuna region as a global tourism destination while preserving its fragile Himalayan ecosystem and cultural sanctity.
CM Khandu emphasized that such collaborations mark the beginning of transforming India’s border villages into well-known international tourism hubs.
