Arunachal CM Pema Khandu Inaugurates Major Infrastructure Projects In West Kameng

Itanagar, Nov 3: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Sunday inaugurated a series of major infrastructure projects in West Kameng district, aimed at improving administrative efficiency, connectivity, education, and public amenities.

During his visit to Dirang, Khandu inaugurated the newly constructed sub-divisional secretariat at Hing Thangkha in the presence of Home Minister Mama Natung and several MLAs. He said the new facility, which brings all major departments under one roof, will strengthen governance and enhance public service delivery.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated a 70-metre double-lane steel bridge over the Meyong River at Kharsa, replacing an old suspension bridge. He said the new structure will improve mobility, ease transportation for residents, and support the relocation of administrative services to Hing Thangkha.

In the education sector, Khandu dedicated the newly built Government Higher Secondary School at Dirang, featuring smart classrooms, science and geography laboratories, IT rooms, a library, and a conference hall. He said the upgraded facilities would provide a modern and motivating learning environment for both students and teachers.

Khandu also inaugurated the Jambey Tashi Memorial Peace Park at Chug Valley, built in memory of his late brother and former MLA Jambey Tashi. The Chief Minister said the park symbolizes his brother’s legacy of peace and selfless service. The consecration prayers were led by Padma Shri awardee Guru Tulku Rinpoche.

Additionally, he inaugurated Changphu Park, a new four-acre recreational site at Kharkatang along the Meyong River. The park features walking tracks, an open gym, children’s play areas, and water features, promoting outdoor activities, community health, and local tourism.

The Chief Minister also laid foundation stones for several connectivity projects, including the Chug Bridge at Dirang, multiple rural roads linking Thembang and nearby villages, and new bridges at Khonpathar and Khasso.
