Itanagar, Jan 7: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Tuesday said strict action will be taken against those found guilty in the alleged ₹130-crore land compensation irregularities linked to the Lada–Sarli stretch of the Frontier Highway.

Speaking to reporters in Itanagar, Khandu said a one-member inquiry committee constituted by the state government has submitted its report. He added that the administration has ordered a fresh verification of land ownership records and compensation payments related to the 125.5-kilometre highway segment.

The chief minister also addressed demands from some organisations for a probe by central agencies, stating that the state government does not have the authority to refer the matter directly. He said the Frontier Highway project is funded by the Centre, which has the power to direct agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate or the Central Bureau of Investigation to investigate the case.

The alleged irregularities pertain to compensation paid for land acquired for the Arunachal Frontier Highway, a strategic project aimed at improving connectivity along the India–China border. Earlier, the Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested the land revenue and settlement officer of East Kameng district in connection with the case.

Officials said further action will be based on the findings of the verification process and the inquiry report.
