Itanagar, Jun 28: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Saturday chaired a coordination meeting at the Civil Secretariat to plan the Birth Centenary Celebration of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika. The event aims to honour the legendary artist’s deep connection with Arunachal Pradesh and his lasting artistic legacy.
A museum dedicated to Dr. Bhupen Hazarika will be established in Roing to showcase his enduring impact on the region. Additionally, a bilingual commemorative book highlighting his life and contributions will be published as part of the celebrations.
The planned events will pay tribute not only to Dr. Hazarika’s music but also to the values he promoted, including inclusivity, cultural pride, and harmony among communities.
The meeting was attended by Education and Tourism Minister P.D. Sona; MLAs Mutchu Mithi, Oken Tayeng, and Puinnyo Apum; Secretary (Planning) R.K. Sharma; Secretary to the Chief Minister Sadhana Deori; President of APLS Y.D. Thongchi; Secretary of the Bhupen Hazarika Cultural Trust Manjula Hazarika; and other officials.
