Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Chowna Mein, today participated in a GST awareness campaign organized by the Arunachal Chamber of Commerce & Industries (ACC&I) in Naharlagun as part of GST Bhachat Utsav, a 100-day nationwide campaign aimed at ensuring that consumers benefit from the simplified GST 2.0 reforms.

Addressing the gathering of traders and entrepreneurs, the Deputy Chief Minister underlined their crucial role in effectively implementing GST reforms. He stressed that the reform, introduced under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has transformed India’s indirect tax system, simplified compliance, and strengthened the backbone of the economy.

Highlighting the progress achieved in Arunachal Pradesh, Mein informed that the State’s GST collections have registered a seven-fold increase, rising from just ₹227 crore in 2017-18 to nearly ₹1,900 crore in 2023-24. These enhanced resources, he noted, have significantly contributed towards the construction of roads, improvement of healthcare, expansion of educational facilities, and the implementation of welfare programmes.

The Deputy Chief Minister also recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appreciated the active support and participation of local businessmen in the successful implementation of GST. He stressed that the multiple benefits of the GST reform should reach to the common man.

As part of the ongoing ‘Seva Pakhwada’, which will continue till 2nd October, various Government schemes such as ‘Poshan Abhiyan’, ‘GST Bachat Utsav’, and ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ are being taken to the people at the grassroots. Mein emphasized that these initiatives are not merely about tax collection but are designed to empower local industries, reduce dependency on imports, and promote Swadeshi products under the call of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

“With the support of all NDA legislators, we aim to take the message of #NextGenGST and Swadeshi to every household in Arunachal Pradesh,” he added.

Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ushering GST reforms that have created opportunities for local businesses to thrive, Mein called upon all sections of society to join hands in nation-building. He concluded with a message of collective resolve: “Together, let us strengthen India’s economy, culture, and society as we march towards the goal of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.”

The programme witnessed participation from Minister Smt. Dasanglu Pul, HMLAs Techi Kaso, Toko Tatung, Zingnu Namchoom, Rotom Tebin, Puinnyo Apum, ACC&I President Tarh Nachung, and senior State BJP functionaries.
