Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Wednesday urged Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) to expedite the laying of transmission lines within the stipulated timeline. During a review meeting on strengthening the transmission and distribution system in Itanagar, Mein stressed the urgency ahead of the commissioning of the Lower Subansiri project and other upcoming initiatives.

“Transmission lines must be laid first to ensure immediate power evacuation,” he said, highlighting that reliable electricity underpins education, healthcare, livelihoods, industrial growth, and overall economic development.

The meeting also reviewed key achievements, including commissioned transmission assets, completed priority lines, and resolution of long-standing infrastructure issues. Assembly Speaker Tesam Pongte, Deputy Speaker Kardo Nyigyor, ministers, and senior officials attended the meeting.
