Four people died and several others were injured in a landslide at Niti Vihar, Itanagar, on 16 March 2026 at around 4:00 PM, while a retaining wall was under construction.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and said the state stands with them in this hour of grief.

An ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh will be provided to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured will receive Rs 16,000 as per admissibility, along with necessary medical assistance.

The Chief Minister acknowledged the efforts of the District Administration, Police, SDRF teams, and all emergency responders for their swift action. He also urged the public to exercise caution during the rainy season, noting that such conditions increase the risk of landslides.
