In a coordinated operation under Operation Dawn 2.0, the Anti-Narcotic Squad of Namsai district police arrested two women and seized 11.10 grams of suspected heroin during a raid in Solungtoo village.
Acting on a specific tip-off, the squad apprehended 31-year-old Shakuntala Rai, who was found with heroin hidden inside a white plastic soap case. The seizure was made in the presence of a Gazetted Officer, following all procedures under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Based on her interrogation, the source of the contraband was identified as Nang Momi Hopak, also aged 31, who was subsequently arrested from her residence.
Both women are in police custody, and legal proceedings have been initiated under the NDPS Act. Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to combating drug trafficking and maintaining a drug-free society in the district.
