Arunachal Inks JJM 2.0 MoU With Centre To Secure Long-Term Tap Water Supply

Chief Minister Pema Khandu, along with PHED Minister Mama Natung, on Tuesday attended the live ceremony for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Jal Shakti and the Government of Arunachal Pradesh under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) 2.0.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil and Minister of State V. Somanna.

While the first phase of JJM focused on providing household tap connections, JJM 2.0 prioritizes sustainability of water sources, quality assurance, and reliable service delivery. The new framework aims to tackle water scarcity in remote areas and ensure existing connections remain functional.

“The signing of JJM 2.0 is a major step towards strengthening and sustaining drinking water services in Arunachal Pradesh,” Khandu said, the agreement is a key move to bolster drinking water services and secure long-term water availability across the state, he added.

He also added that the mission will improve service delivery systems and advance the Prime Minister’s vision of a Viksit Bharat by providing safe and reliable tap water to every home.
