Itanagar, May 27; Kijum Sora Karga, District Public Health Nursing Officer of Papumpare district, has been selected for the National Florence Nightingale Award 2025 for her outstanding contribution to the nursing profession.

With over 28 years of service, Karga has been instrumental in improving nursing standards in the state. She led efforts to eliminate unrecognised nursing institutes, expose fake practitioners, introduce Aadhaar-based registration, and implement licentiate examinations, significantly enhancing the quality of nursing care. Her work, often documented with the help of a ghostwriter, has brought clarity and visibility to critical reforms.

The award recognises her commitment to integrity, reform, and public service in healthcare.
