Arunachal Pradesh’s rich biodiversity has been further highlighted with the discovery of a new plant species in the Dibang Valley. Researchers from the CSIR-Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology, led by Dr. Vikas Kumar, identified the species named Cremanthodium kalaiselviae.
Belonging to the Asteraceae family, the plant is notable for its cordate-reniform leaves, pale yellow tomentose phyllaries, and larger disc florets. This rare species adds to the floral diversity and ecological importance of the state.
The discovery emphasizes Arunachal Pradesh’s status as an important ecological hotspot and contributes to the advancement of botanical research. Dr. Vikas Kumar and his team have been recognized for this significant finding.
