Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday engaged with local taxpayers, traders, and industry representatives in Arunachal Pradesh to highlight the benefits of the recent GST rate reduction during the ‘GST Bachat Utsav’ event in Itanagar.
During the event, Modi met artisans and sellers of local products, including packaged milk and food items, and promoted the use of indigenous goods. He distributed placards with the slogan ‘Garv se Kaho Yeh Swadeshi Hai’ to shopkeepers, who welcomed the initiative and pledged to display them in their shops.
The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for development projects worth over Rs 5,100 crore in the state. The initiatives include two major hydropower projects valued at more than Rs 3,700 crore, notably the 186 MW Tato-1 Hydro Electric Project in the Siyom sub-basin, which is expected to enhance Arunachal Pradesh’s power generation capacity.
In addition, Modi inaugurated the construction of a modern Convention Center in Tawang, situated at an altitude of 9,820 feet. The center, designed to host over 1,500 delegates, will facilitate national and international conferences, cultural festivals, and exhibitions, promoting tourism and regional culture.
Other infrastructure projects worth Rs 1,290 crore covering connectivity, health, fire safety, and working women hostels were also launched to support economic growth and improve living standards in the state.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, these initiatives reflect Modi’s vision of enhancing ease of doing business and fostering a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem in Arunachal Pradesh.
After his engagements in Arunachal Pradesh, PM Modi is scheduled to visit Tripura to perform religious rituals and inaugurate development works at the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple Complex in Matabari.
