Arunachal Pradesh State Transport Services (APSTS) marked 50 years of service with Golden Jubilee Celebrations at Khonsa on Friday, with Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein attending the inaugural session.
The event commemorated five decades of APSTS as a lifeline for the state. Starting with just two buses, the service today runs a fleet of more than 320 buses on 96 routes, connecting remote regions and linking communities across Arunachal Pradesh.
The program was attended by Education Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona, Environment, Forest & Climate Change Minister Wangki Lowang, Transport Advisor Chakat Aboh, Environment & Forest Advisor Wanglin Lowangdong, WCD Advisor Tsering Lhamu, MLAs Wanglam Sawin, Hamjong Tangha and Thangwang Wangham, along with the Commissioner Transport, GM STS, ZPC Tirap, DC Tirap, SP Tirap, department officials and other dignitaries.

Former General Managers and meritorious staff were felicitated, whose dedication and tireless efforts have shaped the institution through the decades. ‘A proud tribute to an organisation that continues to move with the aspirations of the people while carrying forward a legacy of commitment, connectivity and progress.’ Ojing Tasing, Minister, RD stated.

Deputy CM Mein also flagged off a Restaurant Bus, a Road Safety Awareness Bus, and a new fleet of Luxury Buses.
Tasing said “this initiative aims to redefine public transport, promote road safety awareness, and improve passenger experience.”
“This is more than the flagging off of vehicles. It symbolises our commitment to safer roads, modern mobility and people-centric public service,” Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein said.
“This milestone is a tribute to the tireless efforts of every driver, conductor, mechanic, officer, and staff member who have contributed to this proud legacy over the decades, wishing APSTS continued success in its journey towards safer, modern and people centric transport services in the years ahead” Mein added.
“May APSTS continue to drive the spirit of progress across Arunachal Pradesh, carrying not just passengers, but the hopes, dreams and aspirations of generations to come,” the Deputy CM said.
