Itanagar, June 26: Mayor of Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC), Tamme Phassang, along with IMC Commissioner Kego Jilen and several Corporators, Engineers and IMC officials, undertook a comprehensive inspection of various municipal wards to assess on-ground conditions and engage directly with frontline staff. The inspection covered Ward Nos. 17, 14, 4, and 2, where the team interacted closely with IMC ground workers to understand their challenges and day-to-day operational issues.

The initiative aimed to bridge the gap between the administration and field realities, ensuring a stronger and more responsive municipal governance framework.

During the visit, sanitation workers shared their heartfelt grievances with the Mayor, highlighting issues such as extremely low wages despite their demanding work.

“We start our day early in the morning, working tirelessly to clean the city’s garbage—tasks, often overlooked by society. Yet, our salary is meagre,” one worker stated, urging the Mayor to consider salary enhancements.

Moved by their concerns, Mayor Phassang assured them of his firm commitment to take up the matter with utmost sincerity.

“I deeply respect the dedication of our IMC ground staff. I will do everything within my capacity—even approach Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and Chief Minister Pema Khandu ji—to ensure their grievances are addressed,” the Mayor stated.

Earlier in the day, the Mayor also visited the Ganga Daily Market, where he expressed concern over congested traffic, inadequate parking space, and cleanliness issues in the area. He stressed the need for coordinated efforts to improve infrastructure and hygiene in market zones for the benefit of both vendors and the public.
