In a tragic incident, a 48-yrs-old man was charred to death, after a massive fire broke out at his thatched residence while he was asleep, and reducing the household properties into rubbles.
According to reports, the mishap occurred at Kurung Kumey district in the intervening night of January 2nd & 3rd, which were informed by police officials on Monday.
Identified as Nangram Tache, the deceased was a staff at the Public Health & Engineering Department (PHED), who was sleeping alone when the heartwrenching incident occurred. His charred body was found at the location of his bedroom.
Although, the exact cause of the blaze is yet to be ascertained, but preliminary investigation revealed that the fire might have originated from the kitchen. “Since the matter is under investigation, as of now nothing can be said about the cause of the fire accident,” – asserted the OC.
Prior to the tragedy, the man had reportedly consumed local wine and had an argument with his spouse, following which the lady along with her kids went to the neighbour’s place, as informed by the Kurung Kumey Deputy Commissioner (DC), Nighee Bengia.
However, a case associated with unnatural death (No 01/2022 u/s 174 CrPC) has been registered at the Koloriang police station and after completion of all legal formalities, including postmortem, the body was handed over to the family members for the last rites, informed the OC.
