Arunachal Pradesh: Tawang Celebrates 77th Republic Day With Patriotic Fervour

Itanagar, January 26 | The day commenced with Prabhat Pherris taken out by school students, who filled the streets with patriotic slogans, followed by the unfurling of the National Flag at various educational institutions and private establishments.


The main celebration was held at the General Parade Ground, Tawang, where the Deputy Commissioner, Tawang, Namgyal Angmo, IAS, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and unfurled the National Flag.


The event was attended by several distinguished dignitaries including Superintendent of Police Dr. D.W. Thongon, DFO Piyush Gaikwad, IFS, representatives from Tawang Monastery, Indian Army, SSB,
ITBP, along with officials from various central and state government departments, Gaon Burahs, PRI members, and invited awardees.

In her Republic Day address, the Deputy Commissioner began her speech in the Monpa dialect, which received warm applause from the gathered public. She emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and harmony in the district and sought wholehearted cooperation from citizens for the development of education.

Highlighting key ongoing developmental initiatives, the DC lauded the district police for their continuous efforts, noting a significant reduction in even minor crimes in the district. She also extended her best wishes to students appearing in the upcoming Arunachal Pradesh Board and CBSE examinations, and appealed to parents and teachers to provide special guidance and support to the students.
As part of the celebrations, 19 citizens were felicitated by the Deputy Commissioner for their outstanding contributions in various fields, and were awarded citations and commendation certificates.

The celebration was further enlivened by vibrant cultural performances presented by the Indian Army, school students, and cultural troupes including Gorshey groups, adding colour and festive spirit to the occasion.

A series of games and sports events for children were also organized. A lively tug-of-war competition between the DC Team and DDSE Team drew enthusiastic cheers from spectators, with the DC Team emerging victorious by 2–1.

At Sub Division Tashi Dhondup ADC Lungla unfurled the national flag at Mayu General Ground lungla, at Tawang Sub division headquarters Rinchin Leta,ADC Tawang unfurled the tri colour,While Hakraso Kri ADC Jang unfurled the national flag at Jang Stadium.

The Republic Day celebration in Tawang concluded on a high note, reflecting the district’s strong spirit of patriotism, unity, and collective commitment towards progress and development.
