The new terminal building of Donyi Polo Airport at Hollongi, Itanagar, was inaugurated on Thursday by Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu. The terminal replaces the temporary facility that had been in operation since the airport became functional in 2022.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu said the upgraded terminal aims to improve infrastructure and provide greater convenience for students, entrepreneurs, and families traveling for education, business, and healthcare.

The terminal includes cafes, retail spaces featuring local artisans, a dedicated children’s play area, and walls decorated with paintings reflecting Arunachal Pradesh’s tribal culture. It also introduces the “Flybrary,” a program allowing passengers to borrow and return books, including works on the state’s tribes and heritage, enhancing travelers’ connection to Arunachal Pradesh.

The new facilities are expected to improve the overall travel experience while promoting local culture and creativity.
