Anini, a remote village in Dibang Valley district of Arunachal Pradesh, has been named the ‘Best Emerging Adventure Destination’ at the 17th Annual Convention of the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI) held in Srinagar.

The award was received by District Tourism Officer Lamwang Aran from Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday, recognizing Anini’s growing prominence as a sustainable adventure tourism destination.

Aran said, “This recognition celebrates our shared commitment from the state Tourism Department and local stakeholders to Anini’s resilient community to fostering responsible adventure rooted in nature’s preservation.”

Dibang Valley, surrounded by Himalayan peaks and dense alpine forests, is known for its Idu Mishmi cultural heritage and trekking routes such as the Seven Lakes and Aeyo Valley trails. Unique attractions include the Pomo Winter trek in the Mishmi Takin habitat and the sacred Athupopu trail, making the region a rising hotspot for adventure tourism.
