Lipin Ete from Kugi Pomte village in West Siang district, Arunachal Pradesh, won a gold and a silver medal at the USA Open 2026 Karate Championship held from April 1 to 5 at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Texas, USA.
Representing India, Lipin became the first karate athlete from Arunachal Pradesh and the Northeast to participate and secure medals at this international tournament. Her performance demonstrated skill, determination, and dedication, enhancing India’s presence in global martial arts competitions.
Daughter of Senior Veterinary Officer Dr. Marli Ete and Emi Tayu Ete, Lipin’s achievement is credited to her rigorous training and strong family support.
Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein congratulated her on the accomplishment and wished her continued success, noting that her achievement would inspire young sportspersons across the state and the region.
