Arunachal’s Remdo Gao Wins Gold at PAFI Nationals, Books World Championship Berth; State Contingent Shines in Gandhinagar
Remdo Gao of Arunachal Pradesh clinched Gold in the 55 kg Junior Boys (Left Arm) category at the PAFI National Arm Wrestling Championship 2026, earning a spot in the Indian team for the World Arm Wrestling Championship in New Delhi this September.
Representing Arunachal Pradesh, Gao defeated 23 competitors en route to the top podium finish. The victory secures Gao’s place in the Indian contingent for the World Arm Wrestling Championship, scheduled to be held in New Delhi in September 2026.
The national championship was organized by the Arm Wrestling Sports Association Gujarat under the aegis of the People’s Armwrestling Federation India (PAFI). Held in Gandhinagar from May 29 to June 2, the event drew nearly 1,800 arm wrestlers from 24 states, making it one of the largest arm wrestling competitions in the country.
Remdo Gao hails from Pasighat in East Siang district.
