Arunachal Pradesh’s road connectivity as making a “historic leap,” highlighting unprecedented infrastructure growth under the government’s “PEMA 3.0 – Year of Reforms and Growth” initiative.
In a social media post, Khandu noted that the state has achieved a 251 per cent increase in rural roads and constructed 3,750 km of national highways, aiming to boost inclusive development through improved transport networks.
He further stated that the Centre’s approval of over Rs 55,000 crore for the Frontier Highways project will enhance connectivity in border districts, promote tourism, and strengthen national security. “The Frontier Highways will end isolation for border residents and open immense opportunities for socio-economic progress,” he said.
Khandu emphasized that roads are the lifelines of the state, with 12.9 per cent of Arunachal Pradesh’s total budget allocated to the roads and bridges sector — the highest in India — underscoring the government’s commitment to infrastructure-led growth.
Official data shows a ninefold increase in road construction in recent years, with Rs 965.99 crore sanctioned under the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive State Road Development Plan (CMCSRDP). This funding has facilitated the completion of 393.57 km of roads and 270 bridges across the state.
“With better connectivity comes prosperity. We are building a stronger, more connected Arunachal Pradesh where every village and every district can thrive,” Khandu added.
